Will Denver Have a White Christmas? No Snow on the Front Range

No Snow on streetsDenver, the iconic mile-high city of the Rocky Mountains, has been experiencing near record level warm temperatures for this time of year. While a pounding snowstorm has swept across northern Midwestern states, dumping enough snow to collapse the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Denver and the Front Range have been experiencing mild and dry weather; warm enough to ride a bike to work.

Normal December day time high temperatures for the area are around 44 degrees. Lately temps for Denver have hovered at a balmy 60 degrees. The record high, set in 1921, was 72 degrees. Continue reading

Fun Fort Collins Just Down the Hill from Estes Park

About 45-50 min. down the hill from Estes Park is the wonderful town of Fort Collins, CO. Take Hwy. 34 East (a gorgeous drive alongside the river), make a left in Loveland onto Hwy. 287 and go north a bit. Make your way straight into the Old Town Square, rated one of the 2010 Dozen Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Local School Named Number 1 in State for Character

The Foundation for Character Development has named Eagle Rock School of Estes Park the 2010 Colorado State School of Character. Sponsored nationally by the Character Education Partnership (CEP), the State Schools of Character (SSOC) Awards event will be held at the Supreme Court Chambers, in the Colorado State Capitol in Denver this summer, followed by representation at the 17th annual National Forum on Character Education in San Francisco, CA in October.
